All We Imagine as Light 2024 720p.DUAL.H Torrent
Between darkness and light
Narrative
In Mumbai, nurse Prabha’s routine is disrupted when she receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband. Her younger roommate, Anu, tries in vain to find a place in the city to hang out with her boyfriend. First Indian film to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 30 years. We imagine as light because it is a film to be felt. We all feel differently, so I can’t guarantee that everyone will experience the same thing, but what this movie gave me in less than 2 hours was a mixture of emotions that ultimately boils down to one thing: it made me feel human. Between tradition and modernity. Between the constraints of society and the individuality we need.
Both are charming
Between the chaos of the urban jungle and the quiet monotony of a small community. Between the concrete and the sea. This work by Payal Kapadia has double entenders that always make us look at life from different perspectives. It is not intended to judge. It is not intended to indoctrinate. It aims to show that we are all human, all full of desires, all with dreams, illusions, disappointments and fears. Between Prabha’s story (Kani Kusruti) and Anu’s story (Divya Prabha) #39;don’t ask me to choose.
Both are fully realized characters
Neither of them have certainty, but both want what they don’t have. Both Kusruti and Prabha are at a level of luxury, award-worthy, where their performances make me revisit and rediscover micro-expressions, gestures and attitudes. The dialogue between them is always excellent. They know each other, they know what to say, and even when they disagree, sometimes words are not even necessary. The feeling is always there and oh boy did they make me feel! Apart from two wonderful performances, we also have the excellent Chhaya Kadam as Parvaty, who serves well as the third element in this story, always a very important social critique. Even small roles like Azees Nedumangad as Dr.
We are all part of the same ecosystem
Manoj is in the limelight, like in that powerful scene where he wants to stay if there is a chance to find his ‘light’. , Kapadia achieves some of the best things ever done in cinema. Relying on mesmerizing cinematography – blending a dreamy, melancholic atmosphere – and a wonderful soundtrack that envelops us warmly, it manages every element from the very first scene, where it makes it clear that this is a film about people. She portrays the people and that unique city full of dreams and illusions that is Mumbai so well. She surprises with several techniques – for example, when she "hides" the target of certain actions until the last moment. Through her brilliant screenplay, she has included some humorous lines that are perfectly placed on screen and uses nature in a way that – yes, I will be very simple in this comparison – reminds me of masters like Satyajit Ray in his cinematography. the sea, the trees and all the other creatures around us.
A masterpiece and my favorite of 2024
We are all part of this world and it can be beautiful anywhere. The way things unfold in a calm, contemplative way, with such strong but never expositional dialogue… it all has a rare realism to it, because it does so while entertaining without ever being a boring film. There is always movement, progress, always to be told and explored.
