Narrative
Unravel the mystery of a town in the central US that imprisons anyone who enters it. As the residents struggle to maintain a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest. Known as Beaver Bank Villa, the site has a long history and many years ago contained housing units, a community hall, a fire station, a school, a church, a grocery store, etc. (all demolished by 2004) to support the workers of a nearby military radar base that operated in the 1950s and 1960s.

All that remains are paved streets and driveways, and a faux town has been built on top of them. When Boyd enters a distant tree, he finds himself at the bottom of a well. A rope is lowered down to him. When Boyd emerges from the well, Martin is the only person in the room and is chained to the wall.

I love this show so far, and the acting and mysteries etc. However, I’m starting to get a little worried that it’s going to go in a “Lost” vein.
It’s never mentioned or explained in any way, ever
While “Lost” was also a fantastic show in terms of acting, directing etc. I found myself getting annoyed at the very end by how much mystery was there just for the sake of being mysterious. Watching the second season, I was constantly getting a little annoyed every time another weird mystery popped up, whether it was a symbol, an object, a thing, an event… mostly because I couldn’t help but think, “Is this going to be significant in some way in the long run?” Is it just one of those where there’s a mysterious fog creature or a hatch or light etc.

Because that kind of mystery writing ultimately annoys me because the writer can reach up their ass and pull out absolutely anything and never come back to it. “Okay, and then there’s a llama in a red hat whispering the words “paleontological” and “spatula”! I’ll keep watching regardless, but if one day the show ends in a “this was all in his head!” kind of way and there’s no attempt to tie it into some thematic logic, then this review needs to be lowered by at least 2-3 points…
